Azgaal, the French one‑man project led by Naïwyn, continues its esoteric exploration with Divine Hitman, an opus that expands the project’s occult universe with precision and severity. After decades of disciplined and silent work, Naïwyn has forged a distinct language where ritual atmosphere and spiritual intent form the core of creation. This album deepens that path, introducing the listener to divine and occult entities that shape its conceptual axis.

The title refers to the angel Daovith, a figure from the Sefer Ha‑Razim, charged with punishing mankind. Each composition revolves around this force: judging, condemning, executing. Listening to Divine Hitman immerses the audience in an atmosphere of divine judgment, a sense of wrath descending upon humankind for its transgressions. Azgaal translates this idea into sound through tense structures, austere atmospheres and an approach stripped of ornamentation.

The black metal vocals, harsh, distant, invocatory… intertwine seamlessly with clean vocals, both emerging as part of the same ceremonial impulse. This duality recalls approaches explored by Helheim, reinforcing the album’s spiritual tension.

Musically, Divine Hitman alternates fast passages with mid‑tempo sections, well‑crafted melodies and precisely executed solos, showcasing the technical quality Naïwyn possesses. He even ventures into other stylistic territories, such as the thrash metal elements present in The Reaper Comes To You, without breaking the album’s ritual coherence. The result is a remarkable discovery, further proving that the French scene continues to deliver projects of striking quality and identity.

Production by Michal Krol (Krol Studio) maintains deliberate austerity: enough clarity for the atmosphere to breathe, without diluting the darkness that defines the opus.

Azgaal, proyecto francés liderado en solitario por Naïwyn, continúa su exploración esotérica con Divine Hitman, una obra que amplía de forma decisiva el universo ocultista del proyecto. Tras décadas de trabajo disciplinado y silencioso, Naïwyn ha consolidado un lenguaje propio donde la atmósfera ritual y la intención espiritual son el núcleo de la creación. Este álbum profundiza en ese cauce, introduciendo al oyente en entidades divinas y fuerzas ocultas que articulan su narrativa.

El título remite al ángel Daovith, figura del Sefer Ha‑Razim, encargado de castigar a la humanidad. Las composiciones orbitan alrededor de esta presencia: una fuerza que juzga, condena y ejecuta. Al escuchar el album te sumerges en un clima de juicio divino, una sensación de ira descendiendo sobre la humanidad por sus transgresiones. Azgaal convierte esta idea en sonido mediante estructuras tensas, atmósferas severas y una estética que rehúye cualquier forma de ornamentación.

Las voces black metal, ásperas, distantes, de carácter invocatorio.. se entremezclan con voces limpias de manera precisa y natural, sin ruptura, como si ambas emanaran del mismo acto ceremonial. Esta dualidad me recuerda por momentos a enfoques ya explorados por Helheim, una de mis bandas favoritas, reforzando la dimensión espiritual del álbum.

En lo musical, Divine Hitman alterna pasajes rápidos con secciones a medio tiempo, melodías bien definidas y solos ejecutados con precisión, demostrando la calidad técnica que Naïwyn atesora. Incluso se permite explorar otros territorios estilísticos, como el thrash metal presente en The Reaper Comes To You, sin romper la coherencia ritual del conjunto. El resultado es un gran descubrimiento, una obra que confirma que la escena francesa sigue produciendo proyectos de enorme calidad y personalidad.

La producción, a cargo de Michal Krol (Krol Studio), mantiene una austeridad deliberada: claridad suficiente para que la atmósfera respire, pero sin diluir la oscuridad que sostiene el carácter de este trabajo.
