Nemesis Divina – Satyricon (1996)
The first Satyricon album I ever listened to—and it left a mark. The sound was raw yet majestic, with Frost’s drumming delivering absolute precision and fury, and Satyr’s vocals cutting through with icy conviction. Tracks like Mother North and The Dawn of a New Age helped define the second wave of Norwegian black metal, blending aggression with theatrical atmosphere.
While Nemesis Divina is a milestone, I personally favor The Shadowthrone. It’s darker, more immersive, and feels more complete as an album. After Nemesis Divina, Satyricon’s musical direction no longer resonated with me.

Fue el primer álbum que escuché de Satyricon, y me impactó profundamente. Su sonido es crudo pero majestuoso, con una batería precisa y brutal de Frost, y una voz gélida y poderosa de Satyr. Temas como Mother North y The Dawn of a New Age marcaron la evolución del black metal noruego, combinando agresividad con atmósfera teatral.
Aunque Nemesis Divina es un disco clave, personalmente prefiero The Shadowthrone. Es más oscuro, más envolvente y más completo como obra. Después de este álbum, el rumbo musical de Satyricon dejó de atraerme.
