BERSERK is a Pagan/Black Metal band formed in Ciudad Real in 1998 by Forjstorm (guitar), LordMonk (bass), Frozen Wind (drums), and Gog (vocals and guitar). A few months later, in November 1998, Obitus (keyboards) joined the group.
In December 1999, they recorded their first demo titled “Return of the Ancient Laws.”
Gog was expelled from the band in june 2020, and Nazak immediately joined as the new vocalist. In the summer of 2000, they began recording what would become their second work, “…From the Celtiberian Woods.” After receiving several offers, they decided to sign with the French label Oaken Shield, a pagan subdivision of Adipocere.
In July 2002, the band entered Artica Studios in Ciudad Real to record what would be their second CD, “Rites of Supremacy.” In October of that same year, Obitus left the group. Oaken Shield, together with Adipocere Records, released the new Berserk album in July 2003.
Battlelord Productions released a live album in November 2004 titled “Live from the Woods,” recorded in Bilbao in February 2004. It was a limited edition of 1,000 copies. Adipocere Records reissued the band’s earlier demo “Return of the Ancient Laws” on CD with extra live tracks.
A lineup change occurred in August 2005: Träg joined as the new drummer, and Frozen Wind moved to guitar. The band entered Artica Studios in December 2005 to record their third album, “Cries of Blood and Hate.” Børge Finstad handled the mixing at Toproom Studios (known for work with Borknagar, Mayhem, Arcturus, Vintersorg) in Norway. The Swedish label Unexploded Records released the album in December 2006.
The band ceased activity in 2008, although they have not declared BERSERK officially dead. In 2014, they launched a new project called Kult et Morte.
